An internet connection, either through wifi or the cellular data network, is needed to download packages through Cydia.Tap on Cydia from the main screen.
Upon opening, Cydia may prompt to install updates. Installing updates is recommended.
When loading completes, do a search for the word legacy.
Upon completion of the search, Cydia will display two search results, both of which are identical, titled "T-Mobile US – PostPaid downloads."
Select the first one.
Tap Install.
When installation completes, tap Confirm.
When the download completes and the user is asked if he or she wishes to return to Cydia, press the Home button.
Reset Network Settings:
Select Settings.
Select General.
Select Reset.
Select Reset Network settings.
The phone will reboot
NOTE: Resetting network settings following installation of the Legacy application is recommended to eliminate the possibility of a failure caused by interference from previously entered mismatching or incorrect settings.When the phone turns back on, access the Cellular Data Network menu:
Select Settings.
Select General.
Select Network.
Turn Enable 3G off.
Select Cellular Data Network.
For APN in Cellular data enter: epc.tmobile.com
For APN in MMS settings enter: epc.tmobile.com
For MMSC url enter: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Everything else should be blank
Turn the iphone off then on, then test the MMS

DUN Errors, Blackberry modem Tips and Tricks
Error 692:
Something is blocking the connection to the modem
Disable wi-fi
If blackberry, make sure the desktop manager is up and running, reads connected and has a pin number then try again.
Disable all Firewalls
If any Firewalls are expired, such as Norton, uninstall them or update them so they are no longer expired
Pull the battery on the phone and restart computer.
Check initialization string again. +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com" should be present, exactly as shown. One typo will create this error.
If it looks great, on the "diagnostics" tab in modem properties, click on "query modem". A bunch of command/response should show up in the box. If this happens, the modem is fine and either the init has a typo, or the Desktop Manager is not running.
If it fails, the RIM serial ports could be corrupt, reinstall the desktop manager.
If all else fails reinstall the Blackberry Desktop Manager version 4.7 or higher.

- Verify no username, then click Dial

Drivers needed-
XP- Activesync
Vista- Windows Mobile Device Center
Both of these programs can be downloaded for free at Micreosoft.com
If Windows Mobile Device Center or ActiveSync are open on the computer, close the program.
Verify that the computer is not connected to the Internet or a Wi-Fi network.
From the Today scree, tap Start .
Tap Programs .
Tap the Accessories folder.
Tap Internet Sharing.
In the PC Connection box, select USB.
In the Network Connection box, select the connection that your device uses to connect to the Internet, which is usually T-Mobile Data.
Connect the USB cable to both the device and the computer.
On the device, tap Connect.
Tap ok.
When your are ready to end the connection, tap Disconnect on the Internet Sharing screen.
XP- Activesync
Vista- Windows Mobile Device Center

Tethering your Blackberry to a MAC 10.4 via Bluetooth T-mobile
This proceedure is going to depend on which type of Blackberry you have. You are going to have to download modem scripts in order to make this happen, and different Blackberry's require different scripts.
Curve (8300 series) (The firmware must be 4.5 or later) And the scripts can be downloaded off of perishable press. http://tinyurl.com/bb8300
Pearl (8100 series)
Blacberry 8900- Blackberry 3G scripts from www.taniwha.org.uk
Begin pairing process on computer by clicking the Bluetooth icon in upper right hand corner and selecting Set up Bluetooth Device
Click Continue after Bluetooth Setup Assistant opens.
For the Device Type choose Mobile phone and press Continue.
Highlight the name of the device and press Continue
The assistant will gather information about the device. Click Continue.
A Passkey will now be displayed. Enter it into the device and the screen will advance to the next. If it doesn't press Continue.
A list of services will now come up. The only one needed is Access the Internet with your phone's data connection. Ensure that Use a direct, higher speed connection to reach your Internet Service Provider (GPRS, 1xRTT) is selected. Press Continue.
Enter the Dial Up Network (DUN) specifics in the next screen. The Username and Password is [gprs].
The GPRS CID String is the provisioned APN. Check the phone's TCP section to determine which APN to use. This example requires [epc.tmobile.com].
Set the Modem Script to Blackberry 3G CID1.
Checkmark the boxes that say Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar and Show Modem status in the menu bar. Press Continue.
Press Quit to finish the assistant.
Click on the Apple menu icon in upper left hand corner and choose System Preferences.
Click on Network.
Change the Show drop down menu to Bluetooth.
The PPP tab will then appear. Most fields will already be filled out. The last field to populate is Service Provider. Enter that as T-Mobile Bluetooth to indicate network and type of connection.
Click PPP Options
Uncheck all boxes here and then click OK.
Proceed to the Bluetooth Modem tab. Uncheck Enable error correction and compression in modem.
Uncheck Wait for dial tone before dialing. Click Apply Now.
Click on the Modem icon in the upper right hand corner. Make sure that T-Mobile Bluetooth is checked (this step may be skipped if T-Mobile Bluetooth is not present) and click Connect.
Open Safari and test the connection by browsing.

How to Use/Tether Your Cell Phone as a Modem
Recently T-mobile stopped supporting the tether feature for all their phones besides Blackberry devices and Windows Mobile devices. Reason being is the browsing experience these phones provide can be sometimes unreliable and somewhat bandwith compromising to the network. They won't shut you down if you are currently using them, but if you call for new setup instructions they will not be provided. Lucky you found me! I currently use my phone as a modem and I am a cell phone enthusiast who is planning on using this blog to give instructions and provide walkthroughs on how to fix common problems, or get around some common issues in this field. How To Use Your Cell Phone As a Tethered Modem.
First things first. You need software. The software for every brand of phone holds the drivers to have your computer recognize the phone as a modem instead of a mass storage device.
Motorola- Motorola USB and Charging drivers 32 bit
Samsung- Samsung PC Studio 3
Nokia- Nokia PC Suite
These are the most common and I will be adding more as the instructions are asked for.
Next thing is the correct data package for T-mobile. In order for your phone to work as a modem you need minimum the 24.99 unlimited Smartphone data package. Yes I know these aren't smartphones, but with the recent changes the cell phone tower actully pulls the imei off of the phone and will give an upsell message if you try to use another data package. You can ask for this package even if you don't own a smartphone.
Last but not least XP or Vista.
The instructions are pretty much the same but lookout for the notes for certain differences in Vista.
1. Download the software and install.
2. Close the software, the only reason we need it is for the drivers.
3. Plug the device to the computer. You should see the new hardware wizard for a few seconds.
4. On the computer go to Start>Control Panel. Make sure you are in classic view.
5. Open Phone and Modem options. You are going to see one of two things. Either it will ask you to input your location information in order to continue, or it will have 3 tabs at the top (Dialing rules, modems, advanced.) If it asks for location, put in your area code of your phone and click ok, you should now see the 3 tabs.
5. Click on the modems tab.
6. Highlight the modem (Samsung, Nokia or Motorola USB modem) and select properties.
7. *If using Vista on the general tab, click change settings at the bottom of the tab.
8. Click on diagnostics. Click query modem. What we are looking for here is a bunch of stuff to pop up in the box above the button, it doesn't matter what it says as long as it does that. That means we are talking to the modem and it is working correctly. If that happens move on to step nine. If you see an error that the port is in use by another program, or that there was an error communicating with the modem please make sure the software is closed, and any antivirus/firewalls are disabled at this time. (Don't worry, we will enable them later)
9. Click on Advanced.
10. On the Advanced tab you will see an empty field labeled "Extra initialization command" or something similar. We are going to type some stuff in that box. If the box is greyed out and you can't type, you are using vista and need to go back to the general tab, look towards the bottom and select change settings. Give windows permission to continue and go back to Advanced. Now you can type.
What you type here is going to depend on the device. The three I have listed only use this one. If you are using blackberry or another device, this will not work. Type this exactly as any typos will make it not work. And you can not copy/paste this as there is hidden code that will make it not work as well.

Close this screen and go back to the control panel.

It should connect after clicking connect or dial. Then you should open up internet explorer (or firefox) and test.
There are tons of errors that you can get if the settings are not correct. I will try to post more about DUN errors and possible fixes another day.
